Fred VanVleet To Wear Mouthpiece for Game 5

Jun 9, 2019 5:24 PM

Fred VanVleet will wear a mouthpiece after getting a bloodied face and a chipped tooth following an inadvertent elbow from Shaun Livingston in game 4.

VanVleet said that he never wears a mouthpiece during games.

"I hate wearing mouthpieces...I will be wearing a mouthpiece for as long as I can manage it. I'll probably throw it at some point during the game, but I'm going to try," said VanVleet.

VanVleet, who was cleared of any concussion-like symptoms, added that he's enjoying his growing importance to the Raptors during their playoff run.

"I know how important I am to this team, to this franchise and I know what I bring to the table. So that's never in question, never in doubt," he added.
