The Detroit Pistons applied for a $9.2 million disabled player exception for the potential season-ending injury to Blake Griffin, league sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Griffin was ruled out indefinitely after undergoing knee surgery.
The Pistons will receive the exception if NBA-appointed doctors rule that Griffin will be out through June 15th.
