The Sacramento Kings have fired head coach Luke Walton. The Kings tabbed Alvin Gentry as their interim head coach.

Sacramento has lost seven of their last eight games to fall to 6-11 on the season. Overall, Walton went 68-93 as the Kings head coach in two-plus seasons.

Gentry has previously served as the head coach of the Miami Heat, Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns and, most recently, the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite their poor record, Sacramento still has a shot to make the Play-In Tournament.

The Kings currently have the league's longest playoff drought. Sacramento hasn't made the playoffs since 2006, a run of 15 years. Gentry will become the 11th head coach to lead the team in during that 15-year drought.
