The Boston Celtics have engaged the Brooklyn Nets in trade talks for Kevin Durant. When those talks happened remains an open question.

Reports came out on Monday from ESPN and The Athletic that Boston and Brooklyn have talked Durant trades. The Celtics reportedly offered Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and a first-round pick to the Nets for Durant. Brooklyn countered by asking for Brown, Marcus Smart, another rotation player and multiple first-round picks.

When these talks happened has been up for debate. Zach Lowe of ESPN said on his Lowe Post podcast that he believes the conversations took place "around July 16". ESPN colleague Brian Windhorst said earlier in the day on Monday that the conversations between the Celtics and Nets "weren't new".

All reporting continues to insist that no deal is imminent between Boston and Brooklyn.
