Shaquille O'Neal said Saturday that he would like to be an NBA owner when his playing days are through. Though still in the informal planning stages, O'Neal is seriously thinking about putting together a group to buy the Orlando Magic.

"I think when I'm done playing I could be one of the powers that be in Orlando that could put together a group that could guarantee to keep the team there," said O'Neal. "One, I live there and if I'm going to continue to be in the basketball business I want to have the team in my hometown. I don't want to be like (Magic Chief Operating Officer) Bob (Vander Weide) living in Michigan going back and forth. I know some guys -- Michael Eisner wants to buy a team, Wal-Mart wants to buy a team. We'll do that and then go to the mayor and if they won't give us the money to buy an arena, Wal-Mart will build it for us. It's something I've thought a lot about."
