'Desperate Housewives' star Eva Longoria is taking her husband Tony Parker's surname and wants to be called now Eva Longoria Parker.

The actress, 32, is sticking to American tradition, and has decided to take another step in her relationship with the NBA star and decided to add his surname to her stage name. From now on, she will be referred to as Eva Longoria Parker.

"I completely adopted the new name and I love it. I'm a Parker now! And I love every bit of it," Longoria said during the event. "I like the tradition of changing the name. I've been getting used to being called Mrs. Parker for a while now, it's really nice to hear. Especially in Texas, everyone is really respectful there".

It's a different tradition in Latin America, where wives normally keep their maiden name. In some countries, they would add a "de" (of) and then add the husband's surname. In this case, it would be Eva Longoria de Parker.

Longoria and Spurs' star Parker married in Paris this past July.
