Rajon Rondo returned to the Celtics on Sunday, but the injury bug struck again as Paul Pierce sprained his right ankle late in the team's win over the Raptors.

Pierce suffered the injury on a breakaway dunk with a little more than a minute remaining in Boston's victory.

Doc Rivers told reporters that Pierce sprained his ankle, but joked that the late-game injury is a veteran's trick for getting out of practice.

The Celtics will play the Timberwolves on Monday night.

Rondo had missed seven games with a sprained ankle.
