Metta World Peace will be sidelined a minimum of six weeks after undergoing surgery Thursday on the torn lateral meniscus in his left knee, the Los Angeles Lakers announced.

World Peace sustained the injury in Monday's loss to the Golden State Warriors.

Mike D'Antoni told reporters earlier Wednesday that he is not optimistic about World Peace returning to the Lakers this season.

World Peace has averaged almost 13 points and five rebounds in 70 games this season as the lone Lakers starter to play in all games before the injury.
