While Kevin Durant has long been rumored to be leaving the Golden State Warriors this offseason, Sam Amick of The Athletic reports that the team has "expressed some recent optimism privately, in part because they’re the only team that can offer a five-year, $221 million deal."

The contract would pay him $50 million in Year 5 when he's 35 years old, while rival teams can only offer $164 million over four years. While the Warriors could participate in a sign-and-trade, the deal wouldn't contain a fifth year.

Durant is expected to miss the entire 19-20 season.

Durant and Kyrie Irving have been strongly linked to joining forces, but Irving is expected to sign with the Brooklyn Nets. Durant's preference has believed to be the New York Knicks and it is not yet clear how Irving's expected decision changes his calculus.
