The Boston Celtics have refused to directly offer Jayson Tatum in future trade talks with the New Orleans Pelicans, but they have pled with the current franchise of Anthony Davis to wait until the offseason to complete a trade of him.

The Celtics can't acquire Davis at this point because NBA rules prevent teams from having two players acquired via trade on max rookie scale extensions.

The Pelicans have been left with the impression that nothing will be off the table when negotiating with the Celtics.

While the Celtics aren't on Davis' list of preferred teams, it is believed Danny Ainge is undeterred in his pursuit.
