The Boston Celtics have recalled center Fab Melo from their NBA Development League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.
Melo, a 7’0” center, has appeared in 19 games for the Red Claws this season and has posted 11.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and an NBADL-high 3.8 blocks in 27.7 minutes per game.

Luke Harangody (Fort Wayne Mad Ants), Jerome Jordan (Reno Bighorns), Jeremy Lamb (Tulsa 66ers on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder), Shelvin Mack (Maine Red Claws) and DaJuan Summers (Maine Red Claws) were selected to the First Team All-NBA D-League Showcase First Team.
Bakerfield’s Damion James, now of the Brooklyn Nets, Austin’s Cory Joseph, on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs, Reno’s Marcus Landry, Sioux Falls’ Dexter Pittman, on assignment from the Miami Heat, and Texas’ Chris Roberts comprise the Second Team.
The Los Angeles’ Courtney Fortson, Fort Wayne’s Ron Howard, Erie’s D.J. Kennedy, Rio Grande Valley’s Terrence Jones, on assignment from the Houston Rockets, and Tulsa’s Daniel Orton, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, round out the third team.

The Maine Red Claws have reacquired point guard Shelvin Mack.
Mack cleared NBA waivers on Wednesday and will immediately play in the D-League Showcase.
Mack started 11 games for the Red Claws, leading the team with 19.7 points per game and averaging 7.5 assists, before being signed by the Washington Wizards on Christmas Day.
It was Mack’s second trip to the NBA, having played in 64 games with the Wizards last season. Mack appeared in 8 games for Washington this season, averaging 5.5 points per game.
Fab Melo suffered a concussion last week walking into a door frame.
Melo had 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots in Friday's game and 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks the next night.
"What did you have, 'Manny being Manny'?" said Doc Rivers. "In five years, when Fab's playing terrific for us here, we're going to have some 'Fab being Fab' moments. It just took kind of a head start."
The Celtics recalled Melo from the D-League to receive treatment for the concussion.

Melo recorded a triple-double against Erie on December 22 when he recorded 15 points, 16 rebounds and a D-League record 14 blocks. Melo followed that up the next game by recording 32 points, nine rebounds and nine blocks against Idaho on December 26.
