Jimmer Fredette To Represent USA Basketball In 3x3 Competition For Paris Olympics

Canyon Barry, Jimmer Fredette, Kareem Maddox, and Dylan Travis will represent USA Basketball in the upcoming 3x3 competition at the Paris Olympics.

The four players took home the 3x3 silver medal at the 2023 World Cup.

"I am so happy for these guys after all the hard work and dedication they have put into 3x3 basketball. USA Basketball has the highest of standards and now the hard work begins to reach our gold-medal dream," said Team USA head coach Joe Lewandowski.

Nemanja Bjelica Announces Retirement

In a simple message posted on Instagram, Nemanja Bjelica announced his retirement from playing basketball.

"20 years...Thank you basketball" was Bjelica's message on Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-10 forward played for seven seasons in the NBA. Bjelica started his NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2015, before moving to the Sacramento Kings in 2018. At the 2021 trade deadline, Bjelica was dealt to the Miami Heat. He then signed with the Golden State Warriors, and helped the team win the 2022 NBA Finals.

Following that NBA title, Bjelica returned to Fenerbahce in Turkey. He had previously played for the Turkish club before coming to the NBA.

Bjelica also played professionally for clubs in his native Serbia and in Spain during his 20-year professional career. The 35-year-old had also suited up for the Serbian national team for several EuroBasket and World Cup competitions, as well as Olympic qualifiers.

USA Men's Basketball Draws Serbia In Group Play For Olympics

Team USA men's basketball was drawn into Group C alongside Serbia, South Sudan, and the winner of Italy, Lithuania, and Puerto Rico for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Group A is considered the toughest group with Australia, Canada, and the winners from the Spain and Greece qualifying tournaments.

Group B features Germany, France, Japan, and the winner of the Latvia qualifying tournament.

The women's groups are below:

Group A: China, Spain, Serbia, Puerto Rico

Group B: Australia, Canada, France, Nigeria

Group C: United States, Belgium, Japan, Germany 

The top two finishing teams along with two third-place teams will compete in the quarterfinals.

Jalen Brunson 'High On List' For Team USA Olympics Roster

Steve Kerr said Team USA will consider Jalen Brunson for their roster this summer for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Brunson is part of a 41-player pool that will be cut down to 12 before the Olympics.

“There’s a reason he’s on our list. Because he’s a great, great player and high character, a leader,” Kerr said. “He’s everything you want as a player. He’s high on our list and he’s definitely somebody we’re considering.”

Brunson played for the United States in the FIBA World Cup in 2023.
