Johnny Davis Declares For 2022 NBA Draft

Mar 31, 2022 8:32 PM

Johnny Davis will leave Wisconsin to declare for the 2022 NBA draft.

ESPN currently projects Davis as the No. 9 prospect in the draft class. Davis was named Big Ten player of the year and a consensus first-team All-American after averaging 19.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 34 minutes per game in his sophomore season.

"This season was an unbelievable ride," Davis said. "People didn't expect us to have the season we had, but the players in our locker room and our coaching staff always knew we had the potential to be a special team.

"With so many great teams and players in our league, it was obviously a huge honor to win Big Ten player of the year, but winning the Big Ten regular season title and playing in the NCAA tournament was so much sweeter. I would like to think NBA teams saw a player who is tough, who competes on both ends of the court every single possession and who will do whatever it takes to help my team win. Every time I step on the floor, I want to be the best player."

March Madness Sunday Second-Round Odds & Best Bets

Mar 31, 2022 4:35 PM

We’re on to the fourth straight day of March Madness college basketball betting, with several electric second-round matchups and a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line.

Sunday’s best second-round matchups include No. 3 Wisconsin as a -4.5 favorite over No. 11 Iowa State at DraftKings Sportsbook. We’ve also got our eyes on No. 3 Texas Tech as a -8 favorite over No. 11 Notre Dame, as well as No. 2 Auburn as a -7 favorite over No. 10 Miami.

While we don’t have an official pick, Sunday also gives us a historic final meeting between Michigan State coach Tom Izzo and Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski, with No. 2 Duke posted as a -6.5 favorite over the No. 7 Spartans.

Sunday College Basketball Betting Lines To Back

Iowa State +4.5 over Wisconsin

The Cyclones are exactly the type of team that should be able to hang tough with Wisconsin. Iowa State is one of few teams in the country that defends better and with more effort than the Badgers, and there’s just enough to work with on offense. Wisconsin survived in a sloppy showing against Colgate, but this one should have the Badgers’ full attention. Iowa State is coming of an upset win over a very tough LSU squad and will be more than happy to grind it out with the Badgers. We’re on Iowa State +4.5

Notre Dame +8 over Texas Tech

Those First Four teams can be dangerous this time of year. We saw it last season with UCLA carrying the momentum from an overtime win over Michigan State in Dayton, eventually making the Final Four. Notre Dame has looked good enough early in the tournament to think a similar run is possible. The Irish took care of business against Alabama in the first round and will need to be on-point offensively to pull off the upset today. Texas Tech is the best defensive team in the nation, but the Raiders struggle to run away from teams in the second half. We expect the Irish to keep it close for the duration. We’re on Notre Dame +8.

Miami +7 over Auburn

We figured there would be a good opportunity to fade Auburn at some point this month. It looks like the time has come. The Tigers cruised to a first-round win over Jacksonville State, but the No. 2-seeded Tigers haven’t been playing like a top contender since early February. Miami is the slightly better offensive team and competes at a very high level. The Hurricanes have only lost one game by more than four points dating back to Dec. 1, and they’re getting an overrated Auburn team in a great spot. We love the points in this matchup. We’re on Miami +7.

March Madness First-Round Parlay: Your Best 3-Team Friday Play

Mar 31, 2022 4:34 PM

Thursday’s Round 1 college basketball betting didn’t disappoint, with upsets and comebacks galore on opening day in March Madness.

Looking at the betting sites for Friday’s first-round action, there are a few March Madness plays that catch our eye.

We’re going to compile those for a three-leg parlay on betting apps to take us into the weekend on a winning note.

Top NCAA Tournament Parlay for Friday

The Parlay: LSU ML (-190), Michigan State ATS (-110), Wisconsin ML

Odds: +274 at DraftKings

Leg 1: LSU Moneyline (-190) over Iowa State

There’s a reason this total is set so low at 128.5, and it should favor the Bayou Bengals. LSU is a top-five defensive team that held its own all season against some electric offensive players in the SEC. We should see another stellar effort on that end, which is big trouble for the Cyclones. Iowa State is a disaster on offense and has lost three straight, managing just 41 points in a loss to Texas Tech and 36 points in a home loss to Oklahoma State. We’re on LSU moneyline -190.

Leg 2: Michigan State -1 over Davidson

Michigan State was last seeded seventh in 2015, and the Spartans went all the way to the Final Four. We don’t expect a similar run with Duke waiting in the second round. But Tom Izzo’s Tournament savvy and a promising Big Ten tournament run should give the Spartans more than enough to take out Davidson as a slight favorite. They’re the far better defensive team and should keep the Wildcats in check on the perimeter. We’re on Michigan State -1.

Leg 3: Wisconsin Moneyline (-350) over Colgate

Colgate comes in riding a 15-game winning streak. It won’t continue tonight against a tough Badgers team. The Raiders cruised to a Patriot League Tournament title and might give Wisconsin all it can handle, so we’re weary of the point spread. But we’re more than confident Badgers guard Johnny Davis will have his way against a Colgate team that isn’t very strong on the defensive end. This is a nice one to cap the night. We’re going with Wisconsin moneyline.
