Akron Wins MAC Tournament

Akron beat Ohio 65-48 to win the 2013 MAC Tournament.

Demetrius Treadwell of Akron was named Tournament MVP.

Treadwell was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammate Zeke Marshall, Ohio's Reggie Keely and D.J. Cooper, and Kent State's Chris Evans.

D.J. Cooper Headlines MAC Awards

Ohio's D.J. Cooper has been named the 2013 MAC Player of the Year.

Cooper was joined on the All-MAC First Team by Kent State's Chris Evans, Akron's Zeke Marshall, Buffalo's Javon McCrea and Toledo's Rian Pearson.

Marshall was also named Defensive Player of the Year, while Western Michigan's Darius Paul won Freshman of the Year honors.

DJ Wingfield Commits To Ohio

DJ Wingfield has verbally committed to Ohio.

Wingfield, the son of former NBA player Dontonio Wingfield, had over 20 offers.

The guard/small forward averaged 17.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists as a junior at Walnut Hills (OH) High School.

Bowling Green Receives Commitment From JD Tisdale

Bowling Green received a verbal commitment from JD Tisdale on Sunday night.

Tisdale, a 6-foot-6 forward, also received heavy interest from Western Michigan.

Central Michigan Picks Up Commitment From Austin Torres

Central Michigan received a verbal commitment from Austin Torres.

“I love the coaching staff, I love the players, it’s a beautiful campus and I see myself fitting in well there,’’ Torres said when contacted by cell phone Monday.

“They see me playing significant minutes my freshman year, and that’s another reason.’’

Torres has offers from Northern Illinois, IUPUI, Navy, Lamar and Southern Illinois Edwardsville, among others.

Bowling Green Received Commitment From Garrett Mayleben

Bowling Green received a verbal commitment from Garrett Mayleben on Monday night.

“It ended up being the best situation,” Cambron said of Bowling Green. “They were the most best and most active recruiters as well.”

The 6-foot-9 Mayleben chose the Falcons over offers from Wright State, Kent State, Akron, The Citadel and Kennesaw State.
