Gonzaga's Kelly Olynyk has been named Player of the Year in the West Coast Conference.
Joining Olynyk on the All-Conference First Team are teammates Elias Harris and Kevin Pangos, along with Brandon Davies and Tyler Haws of BYU, Matt Dellavedova of Saint Mary's, Cole Dickerson of USF, Marc Trasolini and Kevin Foster of Santa Clara, and Anthony Ireland of Loyola Marymount.
Mike Hart won Defensive Player of the Year, while Stacy Davis won Newcomer of the Year honors.
Santa Clara received a commitment from Jared Brownridge, a 6-foot-1 guard out of Waubonsie Valley (IL) High School.
"The coaching staff has been recruiting me for a long time, going to my high school games and AAU games," Brownridge pointed out. "That went a long way. My whole family loves the staff."
Brownridge chose Santa Clara in large part because of its academics.
"What they showed us academically blew us away," he said.
Saint Mary’s received a verbal commitment from Dane Pineau, a 6-foot-9 forward who attends Melbourne Grammar School in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
"I'm really excited to come play for the Gaels," said Pineau, whose father played for the Melbourne Tigers of Australia's National Basketball League. "I went over for a visit in late December and the people over there were just great."
Pineau is a member of the Australian under-19 national team.
