While few Euroleague teams are still fighting in their national competitions’ finals, other clubs are trying to strengthen their roster for the next season. As usual, there are a lot of players in this offseason European free agents market who could make a difference in Euroleague 2011-12 season.
Last year, Maccabi Tel Aviv demonstrated that right moves in offseason could lead the team to quick success. The Israeli club was just one step away from winning the title and next season it’s going to be a different story. According to the Spanish media, the Maccabi leader, Chuck Eidson has reached an agreement with Regal Barcelona team and next season he’ll move to Spain.
Moreover, Regal Barcelona is also trying to sign few other big names like Milos Teodosic, Joel Freeland and Jan Vesely. It seems that the ex-Euroleague champions will do everything to get the title back and singing Eidson could be the major move of Euroleague this summer.
Also, Maccabi player Jeremy Pargo decided to stay in Tel Aviv for two more years. One of the most dominant playmakers in the Euroleague had other offers from teams like Fenerbahce Ulker, but Pargo ultimately signed a new contract with Maccabi.
However, the hottest question right now is who will be the new coach of Real Madrid? Jasmin Repesa, the former coach of Benetton Treviso, is the main candidate to take over this position but the salary question is stopping negotiations between Repesa and Real.
These and more Euroleague free agent rumors and new signings can be found on RealGM Euroelague Free Agent Tracker, which will be updated all summer.
