Now that Olajuwon is gone, the Rockets have to finally get on with their off-season, reports Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. From the trade, the Rockets received the Raptors #1 pick, due by 2008, without an option and lottery-protected through 2007. It will likely be conveyed next year. They also got Detroit's #2 in 2002. There was also a $5.1 million trade exception created in the trade, but it will be extinguished when the Rockets fall below the cap, which they plan to do to sign back Maurice Taylor and Shandon Anderson. Feigen reports that the Rockets do not expect any problems signing these two, and Moochie Norris. Clutchcity, however, is reporting that their agent, Dan Fegan, and the Rockets are still far apart on salaries for Norris and Anderson and speculates that a sign-and-trade with Anderson is a possibility. As for the center position, the Rockets will begin to look at their options but may decide to start the season thin at this position.
