Ah, the late 80's. The end was near for the Big Hair bands, the Next Generation of Star Trek was taking over from the original, and Run TMC was a fun team to watch in San Francisco.

The Daily Los Angeles News reports that a 10-year reunion almost became a reality this season. Ex-Warriors coach Don Nelson, now coach and general manager of the Dallas Mavericks, made a pitch to revive "Run-TMC" -- the running, gunning threesome of Richmond, Tim Hardaway and Chris Mullin that briefly elevated Golden State to playoff contender from 1988 to 1991.

Richmond said, "It was very tempting." And Hardaway, acquired by Dallas in a sign-and-trade deal, lobbied his old running mate to join him.

But at age 36, Richmond has little time left to win his first NBA championship. And he figured his best opportunity would be with the defending back-to-back champions.
