OAKLAND -- He still doesn't regret playing golf on that unseasonable Sunday afternoon in San Antonio while his teammates practiced for two hours inside the Alamodome. He still consistently beats most of his teammates out of the locker room after coach Dave Cowens calls it a practice.

He still despises morning shoot-arounds on the days of games. And you'll rarely find him on the Arena court 90 minutes before a game, when just about everyone else who wears the Warriors' white and midnight blue works up a light sweat to get loose.

But Mookie Blaylock insists he is committed to the Golden State Warriors. And his coach, the one who stripped him of his captaincy when he chose to put on golf shoes instead of high-tops, calls him a "very valuable part of our basketball team."
