Dwain Price of the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram reports: Dirk Nowitzki has a valid reason why he hasn't signed his six-year, $90 million contract extension with the Mavericks.
"I haven't even seen the contract," the fourth-year forward said Thursday. "I do want to review it first, before I sign it."
Nowitzki said he and his adviser, Holger Geschwindner, will take their time reading the language in the contract. Sometimes that could include mundane items, such as the team forbidding the player from snow-skiing.
"Holger and I will go through the contract together and see what we like," Nowitzki said. "I hope it works out, and, by next week, we'll get it over with and then I can focus on the season."
