Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports: Chris Gatling's second tour with the Heat won't begin until Nov. 10, at the earliest.

After Gatling participated Monday in his first practice with the Heat, coach Pat Riley opted to place the veteran power forward on the injured list to start the season.

Gatling was placed on the list for what the team termed conditioning purposes.

"He just needs time,'' Riley said of the free agent added Friday. "He's in, I think, decent shape. But he just needs to work. It's going to take a couple of weeks to get comfortable with everything."
