So this is what the Seattle SuperSonics were talking about.
Hustle. Defense. Team play. Cohesiveness.
When it works, as it did Thursday night in a 114-108 victory over the San Antonio Spurs at KeyArena in the home opener, it certainly is a sight to behold.
The Sonics scrambled around like bugs at a street lamp, disrupting, annoying, distracting, playing the type of basketball that Nate McMillan craves, that McMillan played when he had on a uniform instead of a suit.
"To win the way they did, and to beat a very good team, and add to it everything that was going on with opening night ... it was a very good win for us, and a very well-played game by the players," McMillan said.
The only negative aspect of the evening was that the victory came before a crowd of only 15,491, more than 1,500 short of a sellout - and the Sonics said they gave away 2,500 tickets. It was the second time in three seasons the Sonics did not sell out the home opener.
