Abdur-Rahim knee OK; Crawford out for season
Finally, there is good news for the Hawks.
Shareef Abdur-Rahim did not tear knee cartilage as feared Saturday night and is listed as day to day on the injury report.
While a torn anterior ligament was confirmed with an MRI on forward Chris Crawford's left knee, he suffered no further damage when he went down late in the second quarter in San Antonio.
Abdur-Rahim was diagnosed with a ligament sprain and bone bruise in his left knee, so the Hawks can remove him from the injured list and place Crawford there, knowing he is lost for the season. Starting center Theo Ratliff and power forward Alan Henderson are also on the injured list and likely unavailable for at least another week.
General manager Pete Babcock said short-term plans for Ratliff will be determined today. "Theo has told us he's feeling much better, but he still has to rehab his hip and strengthen the muscles."
