Kidd, who led the NBA in assists the past three seasons, has guided New Jersey to a 7-2 start. He is averaging 12.9 points, 9.6 assists (second in NBA) and 7.1 rebounds. In a 94-82 loss Saturday to Philadelphia, the 6-foot-4, 212-pounder missed all nine of his field-goal attempts but had 12 assists and nine rebounds.

"I happen to be a great fan of Jason Kidd's," Nuggets coach Dan Issel said. "He is a terrific player. He has made that team a lot better."
