John Delong of the Winston Salem-Journal reports: Coach Paul Silas said yesterday that the Hornets will not make any more roster moves until they find out the long-term status of forward Jamal Mashburn.

Mashburn has missed the last four games with a strained abdominal muscle and continues to consult with specialists about the proper course of action.

The Hornets have said they will know more on Tuesday and are still hopeful that Mashburn will return for a six-game road trip that starts next Friday at Cleveland. However, published reports over the weekend said that Mashburn is considering surgery and could miss up to two months.

"He said he's still talking to the doctors and he doesn't know what is going to happen," Silas said. "I don't have any idea what he's going to do, and I don't think he knows what he's going to do at this point."

Should Mashburn decide to undergo surgery, the Hornets would likely look to add another player or two. Mashburn was the team's second-leading scorer when he went out, averaging 18 points.

Silas had originally planned to meet with Bob Bass, the Hornets' executive vice president of basketball operations, and Jeff Bower, the general manager, to discuss personnel moves this afternoon.

Silas said he would prefer to bring in a young athletic-type player with offensive skills.
