Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports: Whether Isaiah Rider ever plays for Pat Riley, Heat forward LaPhonso Ellis said not to include him in any such personnel decision.

Two years ago, while Ellis and Rider were teammates with the Atlanta Hawks, Rider was suspended for marijuana use. In the wake of that incident, Rider accused Ellis and center Dikembe Mutombo of turning him in to NBA authorities.

At the time, Rider threatened retribution on Ellis and Mutombo, with Mutombo later saying, "I wasn't worried. I had a bodyguard with me at all times." At the time, Ellis called the situation "really sad."

Tuesday, before the Heat faced the Celtics at AmericanAirlines Arena, Ellis said he had no issues with Rider, who cleared waivers Monday and could be signed by any team, including the scoring-starved Heat.

"When you're not involved in something," Ellis said, "I didn't feel I had anything necessarily to worry about.

"I ran into him last year when he played for the Lakers, and he walked past me and didn't say much to me. And then the second game we played against him, he kind of walked over to me and hugged me. I didn't know if he found out the truth, that I didn't have anything to do with it."
