The Heat broke its 12-game losing streak on Friday in Seattle, but even coach Pat Riley admitted a day later his team was the beneficiary of a little luck against the Sonics.
He must have been right, because against the Kings on Sunday night, it was obvious Miami is continuing to do the things that led to its horrendous stretch in the first place.
Turnovers, rushed shots and an inability to make plays down the stretch have plagued Miami all season, and Sacramento took advantage for a 95-88 victory at Arco Arena, handing Miami its 13th loss in its past 14 games.
The Heat shot 5 of 15 in the fourth period and allowed Sacramento forward Chris Webber to bury three consecutive jumpers with under five minutes left in his first game of the season, and the result was the same as it has been all season.
``It's the same thing,'' center Alonzo Mourning said. ``Just another loss. We gave a poor effort.''
Riley pointed to the officiating as the major reason for Miami's setback. The Kings shot 36 free throws to Miami's 19, and the resulting frustration led to four technical fouls on the night.
