Jerry Stackhouse and Rasheed Wallace led North Carolina to the NCAA Final Four as sophomores in 1995. Both left school two years early and have remained great friends.

Wallace, a Trail Blazers star, receives technical fouls at a rate of almost one every other game, but there's a side of him few see. Stackhouse, a Pistons guard, is one of the few.

While his charitable contributions in his hometown of Philadelphia and in Portland go unnoticed because he wants it that way, Wallace has done nothing to improve his image on the court. He had been tagged with nine technicals entering Friday, and the Blazers have underachieved for first-year coach Maurice Cheeks.

"He has a ball playing with kids -- teaching and helping them with their game in Philadelphia," Stackhouse said. "I think as long as he's in that environment he's good, but if you brought a referee in the building or a camera, then all of a sudden it changes."
