On behalf of coach Don Nelson, assistant Del Harris announced to the team after their OT loss to the Knicks that Nelson's wife, Joy, was diagnosed with breast cancer, reports Jodie Valade of the Dallas Morning News.  She will consult with a surgeon today, but expects to undergo surgery soon and then get radiation treatment.

Don Nelson expects to miss several games during the surgery and treatment to be with his wife.  Assistant and son Donnie Nelson will take over head coaching responsibilities in Nelson's absences.

"We're all a family," Michael Finley said. "Anything that happens to one of our family happens to all of us. We'll continue to pray for her."
