Rumors about Leon Smith returning to the NBA are heating up again.
He's currently with the Gary, Indiana's Steelheads. Michael Osipoff of the Gary Post-Tribune reports that eight NBA teams have shown serious interest in Smith. This story has been covered before, but the news is that tonight could be his last game with the Steelheads before trying out with an NBA team.
Smith was initially drafted out of high school in 1999 by San Antonio, and then dealt to Dallas. Smith never played in the NBA after what Osipoff euphemistically calls "a series of personal problems."
The 6'10" Smith has settled in well with his Indiana team, and leads the league with 15.3 rebounds per game. Atlanta has shown the most interest, along with the Knicks and Blazers.
The main issue is whether Smith can cope with the pressures of the NBA.
