Al Iannazzone tells us how in 6 not so easy steps:
1. Scott Layden must be aggressive. The conservative general manager should follow the Pacers' blueprint and gamble on unproven players.
2. Trade Latrell Sprewell. It more likely will be him over Allan Houston because of Houston's $100 million contract.
3. See what Marcus Camby is worth. His contract is not an obstacle to a trade (three years, $21 million).
4. Clean up the salary cap. The Knicks need to dump salaries for draft picks or players with shorter contracts.
5. Look to package players and picks. The Knicks are headed to the draft lottery for the first time in 15 years. That may interest teams in taking a package deal.
6. Get a name coach. No offense to Don Chaney, but the Knicks need another Pat Riley-type.
