Antonio Davis went on the offensive yesterday by blasting the Raptors' porous defence.

The veteran power forward/centre learned the hard way during his days with the Indiana Pacers that good teams, at least those aspiring to do special things, establish an identity by playing hard-nosed defence.

Even when a team's shots aren't dropping, Davis understands that there's no excuse for not defending.

And right now, the Raptors aren't good enough to contend because their defence is bad, according to Davis.

"Our defence isn't that good right now," Davis said without provocation and without mincing his words.
