Robbi Pickeral of the Pioneer Press reports that Timberwolves guards Wally Szczerbiak and Anthony Peeler were teamed during some three-on-three practice last season and hit three-pointer after three-pointer as teammates tried in vain to outscore them.
Naturally, a nickname came from trash talk.

"We wore red jerseys when we went three-on-three, and AP came up with "Flame Throwers,' '' Szczerbiak said with a smile. "The name kind of stuck with us.''

And why not? Entering tonight's game at Detroit, Szczerbiak is ninth in the NBA in three-pointers (44.8 percent) and Peeler is 21st (41.5).
