The Kings' attempt to minimize or even avoid luxury-tax payments has resulted in a sometimes-depleted roster.

That was the case Monday when coach Rick Adelman had just nine players available to practice. Adelman has been working with limited numbers in practice since early January because of minor and varied injuries and illnesses.

Guard Doug Christie nursed a sore ankle Monday, while guard Mateen Cleaves received an injection to ease foot pain and likely will not be cleared to play for another few days.
