With relentless defence, a no-quit attitude and two starters on the bench in suits, the Raptors have strung together a modest but nonetheless impressive three-game win streak.

If they're to make it a four-gamer this afternoon against the New Jersey Nets in the Meadowlands (12:30 p.m., Sportsnet, FAN 590), however, they may have to do it without the energy and enthusiasm of Jerome (Junk Yard Dog) Williams.

The Raptors' small forward was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain yesterday and is listed as questionable for today's matinee matchup with the 30-14 Nets.

Williams suffered the injury late in Toronto's 97-92 win over the Boston Celtics on Thursday night.

"It's just one of those kinds of years and we'll just have to continue to make adjustments," said coach Lenny Wilkens, who is already without starting centre Hakeem Olajuwon for the next month and a half with a thigh injury and small forward Morris Peterson, out another two or three weeks with a broken index finger.

"But guys have been working hard and playing hard and so far we've been able to overcome most of it."
