The Raptors have won games when the stakes were considerably higher and have stepped up against some of the NBA's elite teams.
But last night's performance was one they won't soon forget for a variety of reasons.
Incredibly and almost miraculously, the Raptors overcame the loss of six injured players, including three starters, to eke out an 80-74 overtime win over the San Antonio Spurs.
On this night, the list of wounded Raptors grew by two, with star Vince Carter (quadriceps) and key reserve Dell Curry (calf) hurting themselves in the win, which lifted the Raptors record to 29-21 heading into the all-star break.
Carter, who led all players in all-star voting, will not play in Sunday's all-star game in Philadelphia. Instead, he'll remain in Toronto to receive therapy.
Late last night the Raptors announced that Carter will be out a minimum of 10 days. A decision on whether to place Carter on the injured list won't be made until early next week.
In essence, the Raptors played the second half and the overtime period against the Spurs with seven bodies.
