Less than a minute remained Sunday in the Timberwolves' 93-80 home blowout of the Miami Heat when Minnesota coach Flip Saunders called a 20-second timeout.

The Wolves, leading by 21 points two minutes earlier, had allowed their advantage to drop to 15, and Saunders had a point to make.

"I wanted to re-emphasize to the guys, 'This is a little bit of what we did in the last five minutes at Denver,' '' he said, referring to Friday's 99-98 loss in which the Wolves blew a 14-point lead. " 'Let's not pick up bad habits. Let's make sure we're disciplined, we know who we have, we get to our guys and we finish it off.' ''

The key to the Wolves' victory was disciplined defense. Using combinations of man-to-man, three-quarter-court trap, their standard matchup zone and a new zone in which 7-foot-1 Kevin Garnett plays at the top of the key, the Wolves held Miami to 40 percent shooting, helped force 19 turnovers and dictated tempo.
