Glen Grunwald says there's nothing going on, but his past actions make it tough to trust him.

The NBA trade deadline is today at 6 p.m. EST. Grunwald, the Raptors general manager, has a rich history of making deadline deals, and undoubtedly he at least will ponder a roster shakeup when he speaks with rival GMs this afternoon.

Grunwald's trade dreams have been complicated by the fact that so many Raptors are injured. It's tough to deal when you aren't dealing from a position of strength, literally and figuratively.

If the Raptors do anything, the idea likely would be to add some scoring punch, some perimeter defence or some depth at backup point guard. Some names to watch include Larry Hughes of the Golden State Warriors, Stacey Augmon of the Charlotte Hornets and Shammond Williams of the Seattle SuperSonics.

League sources suggested the Raptors have had on-and-off trade discussions this season with the Phoenix Suns, with the aging Penny Hardaway possibly at the heart of the matter. The Suns would have no aversion to trading Hardaway, but they likely would want quality draft picks in return and the Raptors aren't exactly overloaded with those.
