New Timberwolves center Marc Jackson was watching a play Friday when, as is his nature, he smacked his hands together and screamed, "Good job, Felipe!"

"They all kind of turned around and looked at me like, who's Felipe?" Jackson said later, laughing as he told the story.

Learning plays. Learning players. Learning the nicknames of plays and players. That was the first order of business for Jackson, traded from Golden State on Thursday for center Dean Garrett and the Wolves' second-round draft pick in 2007.

After a 6 a.m. flight that connected through Memphis from Milwaukee, and a physical that sealed the deal, Jackson quickly learned that Felipe Lopez is "Poppi," Wally Szczerbiak is "World," and there is a difference between "452 quick" and "452 twist."

"The 10 minutes after practice were the hardest," Jackson said, referring to the moments when Wolves assistant Don Zierdan taught him several of the team's basic plays. "In those 10 minutes, it felt like they were putting 50-something games into you."
