Tuesday, February 26, 2002 - Denver Nuggets first-year general manager Kiki Vandeweghe has definitely taken a crash course this season on how tough being an NBA GM can be.
Vandeweghe has seen his friend Dan Issel, the Nuggets' president and coach, resign after a racially insensitive tirade toward a fan; star forward Antonio McDyess sit out the season because of a knee injury; and guard Nick Van Exel ask to be traded, which culminated in a major seven-player trade with the Dallas Mavericks last Thursday that included dealing promising forward-center Raef LaFrentz.
And there's two months remaining in the season.
