The SuperSonics, whom the Rockets face tonight at KeyArena, no longer use the trapping and rotating defense left behind from George Karl's days of running the team.

They continued to double-team under Paul Westphal and Nate McMillan but have shifted this season to another unusual defensive strategy. They switch on most screens, allowing big players to defend guards and guards to defend big men.

The Rockets also use the strategy.

"They do a lot of switching," Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich said. "We've been doing that, too. Then, there's not a hole in the defense. You just switch it. But you do have to have your big people on a quick guy out on the floor. Our guys have done a good job with it."
