The situation is familiar but the injury is not. Glenn Rice of the Houston Rockets is facing the possibility of surgery again. Only this time, it?s his damaged shoulder that could end his season. Janny Hu of the Houston Chronicle reports that Rice has been diagnosed with a torn superior labrum in his left shoulder.

He will try to rehab the shoulder for the next seven to 10 days. At that point, he will be evaluated to determine whether surgery will be necessary. If surgery is needed to repair the damage, Rice will need 14 to 16 weeks to rehab the injury. If surgery is needed to just clean out the area, he could return in four to six weeks.

The injury occurred when Rice was driving to the basket during Saturday's victory over Denver. He left the game in the third quarter after experiencing tightness in his non-shooting arm. The Rockets originally feared that there was cartilage damage, but when Rice started to regain strength and mobility in the shoulder after only a few days, they hoped the injury would be minor.

An MRI test yesterday confirmed the tear.

"How do I feel? I don't feel good," Rice said Monday after learning the news. "It's tough. It's kind of hard to even talk about it. I can't compare this to anything."
