Sonics backup center Calvin Booth has suffered a tear of the meniscus in his knee, and he likely will require surgery to repair the injury.
It is unclear how Booth tore the meniscus. He is visiting with several other doctors to get their opinions on whether he should undergo surgery.
After signing a six-year, $34 million deal two summers ago, Booth has been a disappointment for Seattle. In 47 games last season, Booth averaged 2.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and .7 blocks in 12 minutes a game.
