Seven days away from becoming a free agent, Alonzo Mourning is trying to decide whether to follow his heart or his wallet.

''Having to uproot and move, knowing that is a possibility, I don't want to have to do that,'' Mourning said Monday during the Zo's Summer Groove Celebrity Golf Classic at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa.

``But a lot of my colleagues have to do that every year. You just deal with it. It's a business, and move on.''

Clearly, Mourning's heart is in Miami. Since arriving here eight years ago, the Heat has become his team. The Heat has embraced its All-Star center, even after he was diagnosed with kidney disease nearly three years ago, then missed all of last season because of a medical setback. South Florida is also where Mourning and his wife, Tracy, have raised their two kids and based Mourning's numerous charity events.

Mourning's business side, though, will entice him to test the NBA free agent market on July 1. There, he will try to do better than the veteran minimum deal he likely would receive from the Heat.
