The Los Angeles Clippers agreed in principle to a two-year, $1.6 million deal with free-agent guard Eddie House. House spent the past three seasons with the Miami Heat.

Last season he averaged 7.5 points and 1.6 assists in 55 games. House hopes to compete for the starting point guard job held last season by Andre Miller. Miller signed a six-year, $51 million offer sheet with the Denver Nuggets. Keyon Dooling and Marko Jaric also will vie for the job.

"I think it's open over there," House said. "It's a new coach (Mike Dunleavy), and he doesn't have loyalties to anyone. The Clippers just seem like the ideal place for me."
