The New Jersey Nets have re-signed free agent guard Lucious Harris, Nets President/General Manager Rod Thorn announced today. As per club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

?We are very pleased to re-sign Lucious,? said Thorn. ? He has been a valuable member of our team for the past six seasons and we look forward to his continued contribution.?

The Nets originally obtained the 32-year old Harris on June 27, 1999 from the Philadelphia 76ers as part of an eight-player trade. In his six seasons with the Nets, the 6-5 Long Beach State product has averaged 7.8 points, 1.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds over 387 games, shooting 43percent from the field and 34 percent from three-point range. For his career, Harris is averaging 7.6 points, 1.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 658 games, shooting 43 percent from the field and 35 percent from downtown.

Harris had his best statistical season of his career during the 2002-03 campaign, averaging 10.3 points, 2.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds, the first time he has averaged in double figures during his 10-year career. Lucious shot 41 percent from the field last season, 35 percent from three-point range and 80% from the free throw line, and earned his first-ever Eastern Conference ?Player of the Week? award for the week of 12/23-12-29 (19.8 ppg, 5.0 apg and 6.8 rpg).
