OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) Warriors guard Nick Van Exel was activated Monday after missing the last eight games with an inflamed left knee.

Golden State also placed Troy Murphy on the injured list with a bone bruise in his right ankle. The 6-foot-11 forward is out four to six weeks and has missed the last 12 games. He expects to play after the All-Star break.

Van Exel was placed on the injured list Jan. 15 and has sat out 15 games overall with knee problems. In 30 games, he is averaging 13.4 points and 5.9 assists.

Murphy had an MRI late last week that showed improvement over a previous one. The foot is the same one he injured in training camp, forcing him to miss the entire preseason and the first 22 games of the season. Trainers don't believe the injuries are related.

In 11 games, Murphy is averaging 11.5 points and 6.1 rebounds.
