MILESTONE
Utah beat Phoenix 96-92 on Saturday night to snap a four-game losing streak and give coach Jerry Sloan his 900th victory. Sloan, in his 16th season with the Jazz, is the eighth NBA coach to achieve 900 victories. He trails only Lenny Wilkens, Larry Brown and Don Nelson in victories among active coaches, and his .623 winning percentage is the best of all four.
TALE OF TWO HALVES
Stephon Marbury scored all 16 of his points in the first half, and the New York Knicks extended their winning streak to four games with a 76-64 victory over Miami on Saturday. Marbury, who had only one assist in the first half, had eight in the second half.
COMEBACK CUTTINO
Cuttino Mobley scored 13 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter and Houston overcame a 14-point deficit to beat Atlanta 86-77 Saturday night. Trailing 66-52 with 10:41 left, the Rockets went on a 24-4 run with Mobley scoring 13 points, including three 3s.
STRONG IN DEFEAT
Amare Stoudemire tied a Suns' record with 10 blocked shots, six in the first quarter, and scored 20 points but Phoenix lost for the ninth time in 11 games, 96-92 to Utah on Saturday night.
LEBRON RECONSIDERS
LeBron James would love to be an NBA All-Star reserve, after all. After being bypassed in voting by Eastern Conference coaches earlier this week, the Cleveland rookie star said he didn't want to go to the All-Star game as an injury replacement. However, James said Saturday he'd accept an offer to play next Sunday if asked by commissioner David Stern.
CLUTCH SHOOTING
Steve Nash hit six straight free throws in the final 18.5 seconds to help Dallas rally to beat Detroit 111-108 on Saturday night. Nash finished with 29 points and 11 assists.
