The NBA has decided to extend its collective bargaining agreement through the 2004-05 season, commissioner David Stern said Saturday. Stern said the likelihood of the NHL locking out its players next season influenced the decision to extend the deal.

Sacramento's Peja Stojakovich failed to win his third straight 3-point shooting contest after missing on the final money ball in the championship round. The miss gave Denver's Voshon Lenard an 18-16 win.

SKAKY WIN

Indiana's Fred Jones won the NBA dunk contest practically by default Saturday night, dethroning two-time champion Jason Richardson of Golden State when both missed their final jams.

NEW EVENT

Saturday's All-Star skills competition featured the debut of the Shooting Stars contest, which was won by the team of Magic Johnson, Derek Fisher and Lisa Leslie. The trio hit baskets from six designated spots in a time of 43.9 seconds.

UNCERTAIN

Shaquille O'Neal does not yet know whether he'll play at the Athens Olympics, and his decision could be affected by how far the Los Angeles Lakers go in the playoffs. The U.S. team opens training camp July 26 and will likely play six exhibition games.
