LET'S BE FRANK

Nets' coach Lawrence Frank extended his NBA record for best coaching start and tied the North American mark for the best start in professional sports. New Jersey's 97-84 win over New Orleans Saturday was the Nets' 12th straight under Frank as he matched Joe Morgan, who won a dozen games after taking over the Boston Red Sox from John McNamara in 1988, and Jim Price, who won that many after taking over the baseball New York Giants in 1884.

Murray, who was disappointed that he was not traded before the deadline, was inserted into the starting lineup because of injuries, but was yanked after he allowed Richard Jefferson to go 3-for-3 from the field.

SPEAKING

``It was one-sided. They go to the free-throw line 45 times. It was bad officiating and a bad game. You have two of your key players fouling out in the middle of the fourth quarter. I'm not blaming the game on officiating. I'm just saying that it was one-sided.'' _ Seattle coach Nate McMillan after the SuperSonics came up short against Golden State 94-92 on Saturday night. The final 12 minutes included two disqualifications, four technical fouls and 22 personal fouls.
